Practical guidance for your prescriptions
- Scan both arches and send a bite record - the occlusal scheme is designed across both.
- Hard acrylic is the default for bruxism; soft guards suit comfort-led grinding but wear faster.
- Guards ordered with a restorative case can ship together to save shipping cost.
- Save your guard preferences (thickness, coverage, colour) on the account profile for repeat orders.
Reference figures are widely accepted industry values for the material/system class - case-specific parameters are confirmed at design. Reviewed by the Istar case coordination team.
Indications & limits
Sleep apnea appliances require a diagnosis and prescription - we route these cases differently from simple guards and confirm the design with you.
Occlusal splint design IS the therapy: where more than one correct design exists, we confirm the choice with you before processing.
What to submit with your case
- STL scan or model of the arch (both arches for guidance designs)
- Rx form with appliance type and material
- Bite record / vertical dimension for occlusal splints
- Colour and label preferences for retainers and sports guards
How the case is made & checked
Fit and occlusion inspected before release; design files stored so replacement appliances can be reordered without a new impression.
Production time & shipping
Standard workflow; reorders from stored designs ship without a new appointment. Shipping is separate.
